Tube amplifier amplify signal from an audio source like Compact Disk (CD) player. It is same as most of your computer speaker system, surround home theater system and stereo High Fidelity(HiFi) system. The main difference is it make use of vacuum tube instead of solid-state (transistor) as his major components in his signal amplification.

Tube amplifier or also well known as Valve amplifier which considered as a classic amplifier. It was by far the most active electronic components before solid-state (transistor) taken over in 1970s. Nearly 20 year after solid-state amplifier take over but some high end tubes instrument still survive because of the sound quality.
